Free, no account. Everyone guesses where they are going, you open it together on your video call, and the recording is kept — printed in Part I of their book behind a code that plays it.

Call opening

Opening the call fills a room, and everyone who might have filmed it is busy being in it. What survives is usually whatever someone's phone happened to catch.

  • Your missionary is shown as a first name and last initial, reduced before it ever reaches the database. The page is unlisted, and no guest's email ever appears on it.
  • The recorder joins only because you pressed a button, and it joins under its own name so everyone in the room can see it arrive.
  • Nothing is announced on a timer. The reveal email goes out only when you press Open the call, and it takes two taps to confirm.
  • If you never start an archive, the recording is kept 90 days and you are reminded three times; nothing is removed that has not been reminded at least twice. Starting an archive clears the deadline.
  • The recording is placed in the book by default, in Part I, as a printed code that opens a video player, and media behind a printed code is exempt from sealing.

How it works

Create the opening and share the link

Give their name, whether they will be an Elder, a Sister, or a senior couple, and your email. You get two links: one for everyone to guess where they are going, one that is your private console. Free, no account, no card.

Open it together on your own Meet or Zoom

Paste your meeting link and set the day; one checkbox emails it to everyone who guessed and left an address. When everyone is in the room, press Record. The recorder joins as a visible guest named "Missionary Legacy (recording)".

Reveal, and keep the recording

Read it aloud, then press Open the call. Every guest who left an address is emailed the mission, with your name on the From line beside ours. The recording lands in your console, yours to download, free, archive or no archive.

On the printed page

What ends up in the book

  • A scan-to-watch code in Part I, Before the Mission. The video itself cannot print, so the page holds the door to it.
  • The caption beneath the code, "The day the call was opened", with the date printed underneath whenever you have told us the day.
  • Scanning plays the whole recording on any phone, under the heading "Watch it".
  • A video you upload yourself, from a phone or someone's Zoom, prints exactly the same way — dated to the day you opened it, if you give us the day.
  • Because the code is printed in a book, the recording it points to is never sealed, whatever storage tier the archive is in.

Questions

What do I need on the day?
Your own Google Meet or Zoom link, pasted into your console. We do not host the video call. Get everyone into the room first, then press Record: the recorder joins the live room, not the past, and if it finds the room empty for five minutes it leaves.
Do my guests need an account?
No. They give a name and a guess. Email is optional, only so we can tell them the answer, and the box to receive your missionary's letters is separate and unchecked. Giving an email joins no list.
We already opened the call. Can it still be in the book?
Yes. Once your archive setup is paid, the Call Opening page offers an upload, from a phone, Zoom, anywhere. The file goes straight from your browser to storage, joins your videos, and prints beside the opening pages with a scan-to-watch code, exactly as if we had recorded it.
What happens to the recording if we never start an archive?
It is yours to download from your console, free, for 90 days. We email you at 30, 7 and 1 days out, and nothing is removed that has not been reminded at least twice. Start the archive with the same email you hosted with and the deadline disappears.
